Encaustics

Encaustics, or encaustic painting, involves painting with melted beeswax that has been colored with oil pigments.  The wax is applied in layers to a surface, usually wood, and fused with a small torch.  Photo encaustics uses a photograph applied to the base with layers of wax added to the top of the photo.
